Young Storytellers…

Had an awesome experience yesterday when I volunteered for the Young Storytellers Foundation.  This is a great foundation set up to promote literacy through the art of storytelling.

I acted out the stories of some of the children in the program, who are mentored to create their own story.  Most of the stuff was hilarious and the kids were ridiculously creative.  My good friend and talented actress, Alice Hunter, invited me to join her, and I am so glad I did.  Alice is one of the mentors, who coaches, encourages and provides positive reinforcement for the kids.  The Mentors give the young writers the opportunity to fully explore and express their individual creative voices.

Most of the other actors were from kids shows, but I am sure they were delighted to have someone who stars in late night action movies join them, even if they won’t be allowed to watch them for another 10 years (haha)…

Anyway, please support and check out the Young Storytellers Foundation.  It is a great program, and a great cause.  Here is some info on them, and a link to their website:

The Young Storytellers Foundation develops literacy through the art of storytelling. Using group exercises and one-on-one mentoring, we provide underserved children in the public school system an opportunity to write stories and see them brought to life through performance. Our mission is to inspire children to discover the power of their own voice.
